Climate Action Cards Launched at The World Design Conference

UpdatesD! UK

Welcome to the Design Declares Climate Action Cards, developed in partnership with the Design Council.

These cards have been co-created with experts from across design disciplines, and designed to shift practice, business and mindset. They bring together a unique collection of planet-positive lessons, advice and steps you can take right away.

With 52 cards, one action for each week of the year ahead, we call on you to act. Act knowing that, by this time next year, you will have taken a meaningful leap forwards in aligning your activities to better accommodate and address the needs of our planet. Act now because there is no time to lose, and act together because there is greater power in collective action.

Who are Design Declares and the Design Council?

Design Declares is a growing group of designers, design studios, agencies and institutions committed to harnessing the tools of our industry to reimagine, rebuild and heal our world in the face of the climate crisis.

The Design Council is the UK's national champion of design, an independent charity dedicated to all design disciplines.

How to use the cards?

These cards have been designed for you to use as a guide for your own practice, to support educational activities and to inspire your team and collaborators. They contain 52 actions that will help you align your practice and projects to the needs of our planet.

You can read more details about the people, tools and ideas that have inspired these cards here.

The cards have been printed using sustainable processes, solely powered by renewable sources with a zero landfill policy by Ashley House on Colorplan paper in partnership with GF Smith, the signature paper at the heart of their collection.

Declare today.

If you are a communication, digital, industrial or service designer or design educator we invite you to take a pledge to shift your practice by signing up to Design Declares today. Those that declare pledge to follow the eight 'Acts of Emergency'. Eight steps to guide designers to align their business practice to the needs of our planet. It is these same Acts that guide you through the climate action cards.

Set up a D! Chapter.

We are looking for more global partners to help the movement expand around the world. We already have Design Declares chapters in Ireland, Australia and Brasil and are in talks with passionate parties in many more countries. If you are interested in learning more about how you can start a D! community in your country - get in touch at hello@designdeclares.com.
